This is great. One thing I find fascinating is the increasing toxicity of the culture while we pass more and more rules to govern how people are allowed to act IC and OOC, probably because the simple social rule of “don’t be an asshole” is so often ignored.

Here’s a study from 2000 about how to stop asshole behavior in adults (parents in this case) in which it was found that formal rules and punishments were less effective than good old fashioned shame (something I feel has gotten a bad rap). We have so many rules in LARPs. You’d think “don’t be an asshole” would be easier to remember than the finer points of Lure of Flames.
